Cookie Policy

This page lists every cookie BrimScout sets and explains why. BrimScout is operated by BRIMSCOUT LLC.
The short version
BrimScout uses a small number of first-party cookies. One keeps you signed in. The others remember choices you make in the app. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social media plugins or any third-party cookies, and no other company can read our cookies. Our fonts and scripts are served from our own site.
Because we only use cookies that are needed for the site to work or that remember a choice you made, we do not show a cookie banner.
Cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | When it is set | How long it lasts | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
bs_session |
Keeps you signed in to the client app. It holds a signed token, not your password. It cannot be read by scripts on the page. | When you sign in | 14 days, or until you sign out | Strictly necessary |
bs_client |
Remembers which client account you are viewing, if your login covers more than one. | When you switch accounts | 1 year | Functional (remembers your choice) |
bs_period |
Remembers the date range you picked for reports. | When you change the date range | 1 year | Functional (remembers your choice) |
bs_theme |
Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. | When you choose a theme | 1 year, or until you return to the system setting | Functional (remembers your choice) |
All of these cookies are set by our own site, are sent only to our own site, and are not used for advertising or to track you on other websites.
We also save your theme choice in your browser's local storage, under the name bs_theme, as a backup to the cookie. It stays on your device and is not sent to us. We use no other browser storage.
Cookies set by our hosting provider
Our website and app run on Cloudflare. To protect the service against bots and attacks, Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies (for example, __cf_bm). These are used only for security. You can read about them in Cloudflare's own cookie documentation.
Do you need to accept cookies?
No. United States law does not require consent for cookies like these, and they are the kind of cookie that is needed to provide a service you asked for. If you block all cookies in your browser, the public pages still work, but you will not be able to sign in to the client app.
How to control cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Signing out removes the sign-in cookie. Choosing "system" in the theme menu removes the theme cookie.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not track you across websites, so there is nothing for these signals to turn off today. See section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
Changes
If we add or change a cookie, we update this page and the "Last updated" date before the change goes live.
